Vit's journey into the tech world kicked off back in 2006 in Kazakhstan when he graduated with a bachelor's degree in information systems and economics. Eager to dive deeper into the industry, he packed his bags and headed to Northern Virginia, USA, straight out of graduation.
Over the next five years, Vit was a sponge for knowledge, soaking up everything from English studies to software development, decision-support systems, and business intelligence. It was during this time that he found his passion – business intelligence. So naturally, Vit decided to make it his career focus.
Vit's professional journey officially began in the summer of 2011 when he landed a job as a business analyst at a startup that was doing some exciting things in compliance management.
Fast forward to the fall of 2012, Vit was stepping into the shoes of a product manager, moving to Orlando, Florida, and working closely with big-name client like Disney. They tackled some challenging projects together – like food safety and DOT compliance – and managed to tackle them within a year.
After that stint in Florida, Vit headed back to Maryland in the fall of 2013 and spent the next six years building auditing applications for a diverse range of clients, both global and national. Some of them are MGM Resorts, Sealed Air, Grupo Vips, Shangri La, Texas Roadhouse, and Sodexo.
Then, in the fall of 2018, Vit leaped to a management consulting firm. That is where he landed his role as a Program Project Manager, where he was placed to work for a federal client, NIH, on some groundbreaking stuff. Today, Vit is still at NIH leading teams that develop and maintain genomic data archives. It is rewarding work, knowing they are making a difference in the scientific and medical communities worldwide.
Oh, and on the side, Vit hosts a podcast called the Vit Lyoshin Podcast, where he chats with folks working in agile and product development, sharing their stories and experiences. It is a passion project that keeps him connected to the industry and the community.
